The TCP Cup is carnival that brings together great characters from all walks of life. There's a white collar set, blue collar boys and a number of punters who wear dog collars put there by their wives and girlfriends who only let them out once a year for this great event. The fierce competition, over-hydration and smoke haze brings the best out of the team leading to some famous quotes that will be recognised in this column. |

1-3 February 2008 After a eventful excursion to Tasmania the previous year, the TCP Cup returned to Rich River by the Murray River in 2008. Rich River was the scene for the inaugural TCP Cup back in 2000 when 12 young hackers played 5 rounds over 3 days to decide the champion. Little did they know that this little 3rd tier tournament would rise to become the 5th major in less than a decade. In 2008 we had 26 punters venture to Echuca to contest a 3 round tournament, with 2 divisions and a purse of $1000. Due to the drought the courses played very easy which enabled many of the punters to get their egoes back in order after the carnage that was Barnbougle Dunes. Low scoring was the order of the day with many punters shooting unprecented nett scrores in the low 60s. |
